Company Background

Upserve, formerly Swipely, was founded in 2009 and is a POS system that focuses on optimizing the day-to-day processes of restaurant management. It’s an easy-to-use system that offers unique customization features.

Plans & Pricing

If you’ve already had Upserve recommended to you, we would still suggest you try out their free service. You can get a basic feel for the system for free with a simple download.

Upserve charges its customers in a slightly different way than other POS providers. Their base prices are competitive, but then you must also pay a monthly fee for each active terminal. The more comprehensive (and expensive) subscriptions come with lower monthly terminal fees.

This pricing structure (and much of Upserve’s offer) makes it a better deal for medium-large sized full-service restaurants.

Core
$59/mo
$60 per terminal
Pro
$199/mo
$50 per terminal
Pro Plus
$359/mo
$40 per terminal

Core

Upserve’s simplest plan is the Core subscription, which costs $59/mo. Each Upserve POS terminal will cost $60/mo to operate. As a basic subscription, Core comes with more features than most competitors’ basic plans. The Core plan comes with many marketing features and integrations. It also includes workforce management tools and 24/7 phone, email, and chat support. For a lower price, you’re getting what other POS systems will only provide you with a more expensive subscription.

Pro

The Pro subscription costs $199/mo, with each terminal costing $50/mo. This package is important if you have a complex supply chain or need important features like low inventory alerts. This plan adds many customizable customer relations and inventory tools to the Core plan’s offer. It’s a good plan if you want a full restaurant management solution out of your POS system.

Pro Plus

The Pro Plus subscription is very expensive at $359/mo. Each additional terminal will cost $40/mo under this plan. With the high cost that comes with the Pro Plus plan, you get data API and enterprise account management. This plan is pricier than most others on the market. It’s still a great offer if you’re running a restaurant chain, but isn’t necessary for a small restaurant business.

Final Word

Upserve isn’t a balanced and generic POS system provider. They are not even close to being your cheapest option, either. But if you’re looking for a POS system that keeps your restaurants running smoothly and keeps you up to date, it’s a great option. With its easy-to-use interfaces and features, Upserve makes a competitive offer. It also offers good integration and customization choices. If you’re looking for a complete and customizable restaurant POS system, it has everything you need and a bit more. If Upserve can correct the issue of system outages, the POS system could become one of the top competitors.
