Company Background

OnSIP is a powerful but simple unified communication service with over 100,000 customer accounts, providing the benefits of on-demand phone systems without the inflexibility of traditional phone systems.  OnSIP is the name of the service that was founded by the Junction Networks company.  OnSIP is now part of Intrado, an innovative company that delivers enterprise collaboration services.

Plans & Pricing

OnSIP has a very unique and unusual pricing scheme, with three plans: Basic, Unlimited, and Voice and Video Chat. The first two are priced monthly per user and offer various features, but seem to be priced in order to motivate you to choose the Unlimited plan.

OnSIP allows you to use their softphone option, mobile app option, or desk phone option. For new accounts, the Unlimited plan includes free Polycom desk phones and headsets, just to be sure that you won’t even consider the Basic plan!

Basic

The Basic plan has a very rudimentary set of features, with additional features, such as call parking, call recording, auto attendants, and ring groups, each costing quite a bit of money (anywhere from $4.95 to $19.95 for each feature!) With its initial cost of $49.95/user/mo, the addition of all the features you want can result in an extraordinarily high cost per user. As a result, it is unlikely that anyone would choose this option.

Unlimited

The Unlimited plan, as its name suggests, delivers an unlimited number of these features for free, at less than half the price of the Basic plan per user per month! ($18.95/user/mo). The only stipulation is that you must purchase a minimum of five users. So it really is a one-way street to choose the Unlimited plan over the Basic one.

Sayso Voice & Video Chat

Now the third option, the Voice and Video chat plan is a completely different offering altogether. This in itself has two sub plans, the Starter plan, which is free, and the Pro plan that permits you to receive voice and video calls directly through your website. To use one of these two sub plans, you must have at least one subscription for a Basic or Unlimited plan so that these calls can be routed to an active extension.

Features & Functionality
General Features

OnSIP offers a number of beneficial features, such as (but not limited to):

Advanced voicemail features

OnSIP makes voicemail faster, more efficient and more accessible. You can get your voicemail sent directly to your email. From there, you can listen to the .wav file attachment, call the OnSIP voicemail system with your extension and pin, or listen to your voicemail using the OnSIP application.

Intuitive auto-attendant

With OnSIP, setting up an auto-attendant is very straightforward. You can maximize its true potential by playing a pre-recorded message to all your callers prompting them to select different numbers to get connected to particular people or departments.

Groups

With OnSIP, you can divide and conquer. If your business is divided into different teams, you can use groups to manage a sea of callers efficiently. For example, you can set up a ring strategy for your sales team so that your leads are always easily identified from other callers.

Desktop Apps

OnSIP also offers free-to-download desktop applications. You can download said applications for Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms.

Ease of Use

OnSIP is very simple to deploy and to manage. The OnSIP app for desktop computers as well as smartphones is intuitive and easy to use. All of the interfaces provided, including management and application interfaces, don’t need a telecom guru to decipher them. Most users report that they had no problem in any technical aspect of the service. Even the desk phones are preprogrammed, so you simply have to plug them in.

Customer Support

OnSIP has a dedicated blog on their website that includes many different resources such as VoIP solution descriptions, testimonials, case studies, small business tips, as well as a resource library.
