Features & Functionality
General Features
One of Odoo’s notable features is its comprehensive accounts receivable management system. This feature includes automated invoicing, sales management, and reporting. It also integrates seamlessly with other modules, allowing for efficient and streamlined accounting processes.

Automation Features
Odoo streamlines accounting management by automating various tasks, including the generation of preliminary invoices from sales orders. Instead of creating a new invoice, the manager can verify the accuracy of the sales order and approve the invoice.

Reporting & Analytics
Odoo’s reporting features are powerful and user-friendly, with reporting aspects included in all its modules for generating various reports. This framework facilitates business performance reviews and mitigation plans.

Cash Flow Features
The cash flow statement is a crucial financial document generated by Odoo that summarizes an organization’s cash inflows and outflows over a specific timeframe. This statement is divided into three sections, including the beginning and closing balances of cash and cash equivalents, as well as the net increase in these assets. By using this statement, businesses can monitor their cash position and liquidity, which is essential for financial analysis.

Integrations & Add-Ons
Odoo is a system that integrates with thousands of software programs, like Shopify, eBay, QuickBooks, Microsoft Azure, and more. By inputting basic information, users can generate accounting reports and taxes, eliminating the need for manual data entry. Additionally, Odoo can directly connect to a user’s bank or PayPal account for synchronized payments, and automate much of the small business accounting process.

Performance:
Payment Notifications
Odoo’s accounting module allows for the setup of automated follow-ups, making the billing process more efficient and facilitating faster and easier payment. The Payment Reminder module offers a range of features.
Reminders (For receiving payments)
If a customer’s payment is overdue, they can be sent a follow-up message using Odoo software. The software is capable of recognizing late payments and enabling the user to schedule and dispatch appropriate reminders using follow-up actions that trigger automatically based on the number of days past due. The user has the option to deliver follow-ups through different channels, including email, post, or SMS.
Sending Emails (0.5 Points)
Odoo has its own mail servers set up for its database, which means that outgoing and incoming emails are functional immediately without requiring any configuration for Odoo Online and Odoo.sh customers. Typically, the standard online Odoo database has already been pre-configured to send email, unless large batches of mass emails need to be sent, requiring an external mail server.
Invoice Creation
The platform enables users to create invoices based on sales orders, delivery orders, or time and material. Moreover, the Odoo invoicing module can be customized and scaled to meet varying needs. With direct bank account integration, payment tracking, and professional invoice creation, managing bills become fully streamlined.
Ease Of Use:
Odoo offers a user-friendly platform to analyze your business, providing a comprehensive overview for top management rather than solely focusing on general ledger transactions. Its interface is easy-to-use, with intuitive invoicing, bank statement reconciliation, payment follow-ups, dynamic reporting, and a clean layout. Unlike other accounting software, Odoo doesn’t use periods and fiscal years, (which may seem unusual) but has received positive feedback from users with minimal training.
Create Invoice
Both Odoo Community and Odoo Enterprise offer the ability to manually create invoices and sales orders, with no distinction between the two. However, the contrast between the two plans lies in Odoo Enterprise’s feature to create invoices at regular intervals, effectively streamlining customer invoicing.
Find Client
Finding a customer in Odoo is very straightforward, and the software conveniently populates required fields with existing customer information, saving the user time and effort.
Customize Reports
One of Odoo’s key features is its ability to provide financial management for top executives, accountants, and financial staff. The Odoo Enterprise version includes a beneficial feature that allows users to preview and export accounting reports into Excel or PDF. This feature helps to save time and facilitates easy analysis of a company’s financial status, providing the opportunity to adjust strategy if necessary. The Enterprise version offers additional features, such as deferred revenue analysis, budget management, and live report preview with adjusting, that are not available in the Community version.
Verdict:
Odoo accounting software simplifies financial management for businesses by offering a comprehensive solution that includes accounts receivable management. The app enables efficient automation of daily financial tasks and seamless integration with over 24,000 banks. Users can easily link payments with statements based on bank transactions and reconcile account balances through the importation of statement files. The List view feature provides improved visibility on document statuses and upcoming activities related to accounts receivable. Odoo has impressive features but may have a learning curve for new users; it’s a great choice for those who are comfortable with open source products.
