Company: VuzeVPN

VuzeVPN is a simple VPN from a company that provides a popular BitTorrent client, and you can easily see that it is meant for torrenting. If that is your goal, then the VPN allows you to torrent at great speeds, and there’s a kill switch and leak protection that is meant to ensure that you are not exposed. VuzeVPN doesn’t do well in most other aspects, but it is still a great option if you are looking for a simple way to stay private and secure.

Plans & Pricing

VuzeVPN provides three plans, all of which offer the same features and functionalities.

The first of these is a 1-month plan that costs $12.99. The second option is a 6-month plan that costs $9.99 a month, billed as $59.94 every six months. There’s also a 1-year plan that provides the largest discount at $5.99 a month, billed as $71.88 every 12 months.

If you don’t wish to commit upfront, VuzeVPN allows you to try the service for free by providing a free plan and a 7-day free premium trial. The free plan isn’t helpful as it only offers 50 MB per day, but the 7-day free trial provides all features and unlimited service for free.

Ease of Use

The VuzeVPN website is well designed, but it doesn’t provide much information about the VPN. It is, however, easy to use, and you can get started in a few minutes. There’s a “Get VuzeVPN” button that directs you to the checkout page. After selecting a plan, you will be required to provide an email address then complete your payment. You won’t need to create an account as the system sends a password to you. From there, you can download the app.
Unfortunately, VuzeVPN isn’t the most compatible VPN as it only provides an app for Windows. The app is simple and easy to use, so you won’t have any major issues after logging in.

Customer Support

Customer support isn’t VuzeVPN’s greatest feature as the VPN doesn’t provide 24/7 customer support, although they state that they do. There’s no live chat support either, and the only way to reach the team is through a ticket system or via email. When we reached out to them, they only responded after 10 hours, and the response wasn’t conclusive.
VuzeVPN doesn’t provide a support section on the website either. There are no FAQs, tutorials, or troubleshooting guides.

Features & Functionality
General Features

VuzeVPN isn’t a fully-featured VPN service, but it still provides several important features.

Kill Switch

A kill switch is an important privacy feature especially if you want to use your VPN for torrenting, and VuzeVPN includes one in its app. The feature works by blocking all internet connections whenever your VPN connection drops. This helps protect your privacy as your identity won’t be exposed. Note that you need to turn on the feature manually.

IPv6 Leak protection

DNS leaks can easily expose your real identity, and VuzeVPN prevents this by providing a DNS leak protection feature. This feature ensures that all your DNS queries are tunneled through the VPN to the VPN servers.
Although VuzeVPN uses public DNS, your queries won’t be exposed, and they can’t be linked back to you.

5 Simultaneous Connections

VuzeVPN allows up to 5 simultaneous connections. This means that you can secure multiple devices in your household, although the feature is undermined by the fact that you can only use VuzeVPN on Windows.

Streaming

VuzeVPN isn’t blocked by Netflix, and so you can use it for streaming. However, during our tests, we weren’t able to access US-only Netflix titles. This is most likely due to the DNS servers used by the VPN.

Privacy & Security

Azureus Software, Inc is based in the US. This means that Vuze operates under US laws, which are not privacy-friendly. However, the VPN promises users that: “We don’t monitor, track or store what you do online. No connections or online activities logs!”

This is good to see as it means that even in case of a legal process, the VPN won’t have any data to submit to the authorities.
In terms of security, Azureus Software, Inc. doesn’t disclose the encryption levels that the VPN uses, although they term it as “best-in-class security and encryption.”

To assess VuzeVPN’s privacy, we carried out several tests and checked for IPv6, DNS, and WebRTC leaks. We tested the VPN using multiple servers, and we were glad to see that it doesn’t leak any user information.

This is thanks to the VPN’s leak protection features.
