Customer Support
Copyleaks offers only basic support channels for customers, but each option is comprehensive or responsive. The web application’s help center is easy to use and contains a lot of information, while the customer support team quickly responds to inquiries.
Copyleaks’ only live support channel is through its contact form, so I decided to try it out and see how prompt their support team is. I sent an inquiry regarding future integrations for Copyleaks. I got an auto-reply email initially, notifying me that the team would get in touch in the span of 3 business days. Fortunately, a representative was able to send a brief yet courteous reply within 4 hours.
Next, I explored the web application’s help center, which consists of FAQ categories. The design layout makes finding the answers you’re looking for easy, and the FAQ categories also help speed up your search. The search function itself is decent, but it pulls up results for exact word matches. For example, the word “integrations” will generate different help results than the word “integration.”
Lastly, I tested the chatbot to see if it could give me quality answers. I found that it functions similarly to the app’s search capability, wherein it would give you exact match results for your inquiry.

Plagiarism Scan
Copyleak’s primary feature uses AI and machine learning to scan documents for plagiarized, paraphrased, and manipulated content. The tool checks against an extensive database of web pages, academic papers, and published works.
Cheat Detection
To cheat the plagiarism scan system, some users try to use hidden or special characters to mask their copied text. This feature is designed to detect those characters within a scanned document.
Text Compare
Text Compare allows users to upload and compare two files against each other. The feature will generate a report of identical text, minor changes, related meaning, and similarity percentage. While this is initially meant for users who want to check against reference documents, it is also useful for those who want to compare different versions of their drafts.
Copyshield
Copyshield is a security feature that monitors the web for any plagiarized content from your website. The tool will give you a report of sources that feature stolen content and caution the plagiarizers themselves of said content. For Copyshield to work, you simply need to add your website’s URL to the tool, and then insert the tracking code provided in your website’s code.
Multi-Language Capability
Copyleaks can scan documents in over 100+ languages, including Chinese, Arabic, German, Greek, and Japanese. However, scans will only be done in the same language as the reference document. For instance, Copyleaks will only check a Spanish document for plagiarism against Spanish sources.

Performance:
After thorough testing, I found Copyleaks to be highly accurate regarding plagiarism detection. I tested the same 10 articles I used for my PlagScan review. Some of them had blatantly copied paragraphs, while others had paraphrased texts. Unlike PlagScan, Copyleaks was able to detect all these instances, even finding additional sources I didn’t intentionally copy from.
I also tried out the Cheat Detection feature to see if it can catch manipulated characters in phrases. For the two documents made explicitly for this test, Copyleaks detected cheating.
The results from my testing prove that Copyleaks regularly updates its database to include even sources from 2022.
However, its accuracy comes at a price, as the scanning process is slow. For just 250 words, the tool took 2 minutes and 15 seconds to finish. When I bumped up the word count to 500, I had to wait for about 4 minutes.
Overall, the tool is very reliable in checking for content authenticity. I can forgive the speed if I am assured of quality results.
Ease Of Use:
Copyleaks’ user interface is one of the most intuitive for plagiarism checkers. While the tool has many notable features to keep track of, they are all neatly organized and displayed. This allows for easy navigation and a streamlined user experience.
Each component also has an accompanying help icon, which is a nice touch. A small window pops up with more information about that particular feature when you click on the icon. This is helpful for users who may not be familiar with all the bells and whistles of a plagiarism checker.
Even the additional features are intuitive. For example, Text Compare allows you to add more slots in case you need to upload multiple files. You can delete them as quickly as you add them since the buttons are placed in obvious locations.
As for integrations, Copyleaks has support for LMS like Moodle and Canvas. It does not have add-ons for Google Docs and Microsoft Word. The company makes up for this by providing its API. Copyleaks also originally offered mobile versions, but they are unavailable now. According to the help center, they are currently being updated.
Verdict:
Copyleaks not only delivers on its promise of delivering accurate plagiarism results, it also exceeds expectations with the additional features it offers. Furthermore, its interface is clean and simplistic, perhaps one of the best among its competitors.
Copyleaks also provides 20 free pages every month, which is ideal for the occasional user. The company offers reasonable pricing for those who want more pages checked.
The only areas it needs improvement in are its performance speed and perhaps more support channels. Other than that, Copyleaks is an excellent plagiarism detection software worth checking out.
