Customer Support
Melio has limited customer support options. The best way to reach them is by submitting a support request through the website. Melio’s customer support representative contacted me the next business day, early in the morning. They were fast to respond to my questions and answered them accurately.
Live Chat
Melio’s live chat option was helpful. The automated system got me in touch with a team member within minutes. They answered my questions accurately and straight to the point. Overall the live chat is a good option for contacting Melio about any questions or concerns.
Overall Experience
Overall, I didn’t have the best experience with Melio’s customer support. They claimed to have a chat option, but it didn’t load in order to send messages. They do not currently have phone support; the only way is to submit a support request, and receive a response back via email from their support team. They do get back to your email support requests very quickly though, and I received an email with an answer to my question early the next business day.
Features & Functionality
General Features
Account Dashboard
Melio account dashboard is very simple. They offer their software at no cost to the user. The main features include paying vendors or bills, getting paid, and saving contacts.
Integrations
Melio has minimal integrated features available on its platform. They allow for paying vendors and getting paid for products and services. However, they do not automatically pull data from receipts or invoices (unless vendors are saved in your account contacts,) and it must be manually input. They also do not offer a mobile app for download. QuickBooks integrates with Melio as advertised in their support center. Melio integrates with the most widespread accounting software that includes: QuickBooks, FreshBooks, Microsoft dynamic, and Xero.

Payment Features
Melio allows you to link a bank account to make payments for free, or you can link a debit or credit card for a 2.9% fee for bill payment. You can only get paid via invoices on Melio and send payment to a linked bank account. You can schedule future payments to vendors for bills or expenses. Melio does not have any integrations for creating invoices. You can use a single-use virtual card to make payments to vendors.
Scheduling Payments
You can schedule future payments to vendors, or bill payment for a specific day, and set up auto approvals for bills.
Multiple Payment Methods
Melio allows you to link a credit card, debit card, or bank account for paying bills and expenses, as shown below. And, it’s a simple process to link your payment method to your Melio account.

Invoicing Features
Invoice Importing
Melio supports importing invoices through their website’s account dashboard. They do not have a mobile app. The website only pulls data from your invoices if the vendors are saved in your account contacts. You still have to input the rest of the information manually.

Reporting & Analytics Features
Melio offers very simple reporting baked into their software. They auto-track expenses and bills paid and received. Melio requires integrating with another accounting software to get more in-depth report tracking and advanced features offered by other other accounting software.
Payment History Reporting
You are able to export your reports from all auto-tracked paid expenses and bills. You can select the specific date range for the report you want to export. And, Melio offers a good feature for filing monthly reports and/or quarterly reports.

Ease Of Use:
It’s so easy to sign up for Melio and start using it today. It’s free and only requires an email, password, name, business name, address, and a few more parameters about your business. They also email you a 4-digit verification code to authenticate your account before sign up. Melio is a very simple accounting software with minimal features due to its non-paid software subscription model. Melio is a best fit for those who integrate it with another more feature rich accounting software.
Setup Your Melio Account
This video will show you how easy it is to sign up for Melio:
Dashboard
The dashboard is relatively straightforward, with only a few main features accessible including: pay, get paid, and contacts. Melio doesn’t offer that many features because it’s meant to be integrated with other accounts payable software to get the full experience.
Verdict:
Melio is a great accounting software if you’re not looking to spend any money. If you want most of the necessary features you’ll need to use different software that requires payment. Melio integrates with most of the bread and butter accounting software options like QuickBooks, FreshBooks, Xero, & Microsoft Dynamic.
