What changed at Ahrefs?

Ahrefs moved to credit-based plans for subscriptions started after 18 March 2022, launched its current plans on 22 April 2024, and last updated all pricing in June 2024. That update gave Standard and higher unlimited fair-use credits and raised Standard from $199 to $249 a month (Ahrefs help).

Why do teams look for alternatives to Ahrefs?

How do Ahrefs credits work?

On Starter and Lite, opening a report, applying a filter or loading more data spends credits. Site Audit and Rank Tracker do not. Extra credits are pay-as-you-go at $50 per 500 and are off by default (Ahrefs help). Standard and above are not metered. SE Ranking is the cheapest way to track your brand in AI answers. Core includes 100 AI prompts tracked daily, and an AI Search add-on starts at 200 prompts (SE Ranking pricing). Ahrefs Brand Radar is an add-on from $199 a month, and the prompts included with plans are 5 on Lite and 10 on Standard. For local businesses, SE Ranking Core includes 3 local locations and 1,500 local and map keywords, and Sonary's review calls its local marketing tool one of its best features. Ahrefs' Google Business Profile monitor is still in beta. For agencies, SE Ranking's Agency Pack adds white-label reporting and 30 client seats for $69 a month billed annually. SE Ranking: the cheaper alternative to Ahrefs for small teams

SE Ranking is the cheaper alternative to Ahrefs when credits are the problem. 4. A content team using Ahrefs to write - SurferSEO. Ahrefs Lite plus Content Kit is $129 + from $99 = from $228 a month. Surfer Standard is $99 a month on annual billing, so compare it against Ahrefs' annual price, not its monthly one.

How do you leave Ahrefs without losing your data?

1. Export Rank Tracker keywords and history and Site Audit reports while you are still paid. Export rows are capped per plan.
2. Import ranking history into the new tool. SE Ranking documents an Ahrefs import.
3. Turn off pay-as-you-go credits.
4. Cancel in Account Settings > Billing. It takes effect at the end of the billing cycle, and the account drops to the free tier (Ahrefs help).
5. Rebuild Report Builder dashboards and Looker Studio connections in the new tool.
6. To delete the account, contact support from the registered email.
